JACKIE ROBINSON FOUNDATION – SERVING THE COMMUNITY AND IMPACTING SOCIETY THROUGH A LEGACY OF EQUAL OPPORTUNITY AND A COMPREHENSIVE APPROACH TO COLLEGE SUCCESS
The Jackie Robinson Foundation (JRF) is a national, not‐for‐profit organization that perpetuates the memory of American hero Jackie Robinson by addressing the achievement gap in higher education. For over 42 years, JRF has provided college and graduate school scholarships as well as leadership development opportunities for highly motivated students of color with limited financial resources. The foundation is distinctive for the depth of its mentoring program, which results in a consistent nearly 100% graduation rate among the students it serves. JRF also strives to ensure that Jackie Robinson’s commitment to equal opportunity and humanitarianism is carried forth in the lives of JRF Scholars as they assume leadership roles throughout society. In all of its endeavors and among all of its constituents, the JRF continues to promote civic engagement, and the humanitarian ideals to which Jackie Robinson dedicated his life.
BTIG COLLABORATION AND IMPACT:
For the past ten years, The Jackie Robinson Foundation (JRF) has been a recipient of donations through its partnership with BTIG Charity Day. The majority of the proceeds have gone toward the Mentoring and Leadership Conference, which is the keystone of JRF’s celebrated program of support for minority college students and consists of five days of developmental workshops, career guidance seminars, meetings with public and private sector leaders, cultural outings, and practical life skills training. It also provides a unique opportunity for JRF sponsors to interact with the students. BTIG’s support helps fund the participation of 220+ current JRF Scholars from across the country at the Conference. Rachel Robinson, the widow of the baseball legend Jackie Robinson, appeared as a celebrity ambassador at last year’s BTIG Charity Day on behalf of the Jackie Robinson Foundation.
“We at the Jackie Robinson Foundation are grateful for BTIG’s continued support of our mission to close the achievement gap in higher education. I am personally delighted to have taken part in BTIG Charity Day and applaud all of their efforts to help those in need.”
